The Dynamic Econometric Economic Development Program (DEEDP) in CAFNR
A major goal of this research is to develop a comprehensive, quantitative dynamic econometric model designed for long term projections for use as a planning tool to complement decision makers regarding broadband expansion. The model is also designed to assist policy makers in planning for the best use of limited Federal funds for broadband expansion.
The DEEDP dynamic model will be developed as a pilot project that can be expanded to provide a profile that can be used for an entire state. With additional resources and national historical economic data, the model can be expanded to provide a profile for additional states in rural America.
The model design is similar to the FAPRI /AFPC representative farm system that is linked to the global economic models and FAPRI projections for up to 10 years. To complement Congressional policy decision makers models will be designed to estimate longer run likely consequences of different levels of Federal and State subsidies per Coop.
It can also be used to assist rural communities, cities and towns that have been by-passed by major telecoms and thus left out of the broadband fiber optic revolution that is essential for economic development.
